Athlete Panel seeking new members for 2026 and beyond
England Athletics is recruiting four new members to join the Athlete Panel. The Panel is an influential group established in 2024 to ensure the athlete voice sits at the heart of decision‑making across the sport.
From calling for more inclusive, welcoming competition environments to championing modernised formats that reflect what athletes are seeking today, they have provided valuable insight into the athlete experience at events. The Panel has also offered important perspectives on the club landscape and youth engagement, emphasising the need for strong development pathways and supportive club cultures that help retain young athletes in the sport.
Throughout the year, Panel members have represented athlete views at National Championships, awards evenings, and major England Athletics events. They have advised on championship delivery models, age‑group rule transitions, and communications with key competition partners. Members have also taken ownership of specific focus areas ranging from para‑athletics to university sport and grassroots participation, working closely with England Athletics staff to shape programmes and initiatives. Their involvement as independent observers in selection and funding meetings has further strengthened transparency and accountability across our processes.
Athlete Panel annual report 2025We are now looking for four committed current or recently retired athletes to join the Panel and continue this important work. If you’re passionate about improving athlete experience, keen to contribute your perspective, and motivated to help drive positive change across athletics in England, we would love to hear from you.
