Expressions of interest are now open for a new and exciting officials' mentoring project, which initially, will be piloted in the East Region. The mentoring project is aimed at officials who have recently attended a course and would like support around developing their confidence / skills in officiating as well as current officials who would like some additional support to progress through the officiating pathway.
The New Balance English Schools' AA Track and Field Championships 2018 will take place this Friday and Saturday 13-14th July at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. Great Britain N.I. topped the medal table at the recent European U18 Championships Hungary underlining the wealth of talent emerging from the schools system in recent years. Many of those medallists are due to compete in Birmingham, which provides another chance to see future stars earn their stripes on a national level.
England Athletics will be contesting a Combined Events Home Countries International in Manchester on 4-5 August against teams from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England Athletics aim to field the best possible team. Athletes and coaches are reminded that they need to register their interest prior to selection which will take place on Monday 15 July.
All clubs want to provide a safe and secure environment for their members. To support them in doing this, new resources have been developed by UKA Welfare Team in partnership with EduCare Ltd to help volunteers and staff develop their skills and awareness in the areas of Mental Wellbeing in Sport Physical Activity and Preventing Bullying in Sport.
This Athletics World Cup weekend, in aid of Cancer Research, in appreciation of successfully halting the progression of Terminal stage 4 cancer and the huge support he has received from officials and other members of the athletics family, Paul Rutter will be walking through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with a number of his fellow officials, many of whom will be officiating or spectating at the event. England Athletics understands that the time at university is a period of significant change and can prove challenging to many young athletes, their parents and coaches. In response to this, we have established a Charter Mark for which universities can apply to show they provide the highest standards of support.
Away from the European U18 Championships in Hungary, the Lausanne Diamond League, the Eltham BMC GP and the Bob Graham Round, other highlights included results from BAL action in Bedford, the Great North 10k, French Championships, plus track and field in Germany and Japan.
The Manchester International on Wednesday 15 August sees England take on Iceland, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and a GB Under 20 team as well as teams representing a British League invitation team. With athletes from across the UK in action, this International will provide an important competition opportunity for the athletes selected to represent England.
We are pleased to invite coaches and athletes to attend our upcoming Regional Coach and Athlete Days. Starting in August these days include event specific Technical Workshops, with practical sessions for coaches and athletes, as well as opportunities to share ideas and discuss key subjects.
Tickets are on sale NOW for the Manchester International 2018 on Wednesday 15 August where England will take on teams from Scotland, Wales,Northern Ireland and Ulster, Great Britain NI Under 20s, Iceland, the British Athletics League and UK Women's League, and other international representatives including from Denmark.
