Winter Long Throws

The winter long throws championships provided a competitive opportunity for U16 to senior athletes in the discus, hammer, javelin, ambulant discus and ambulant javelin. We added seated shot this year to support those on the Commonwealth Games long list and Home Country talent programmes. 

New even age groups were used and U23 athletes competed as seniors. The events were UKA Level 2, and ratified by World Para Athletics and World Athletics. In addition to the competition we also held the popular Question and Answer sessions with current and ex-athletes - this included Goldie Sayers, Mick Hill, Steve Backley, Zara Obamakinwa
Emeka Udechuku, Jake Norris, Sarah Hayes, Bekah Walton, Nick Neiland and Mark Roberson.

Next year's dates are now provisionally booked:

• Regionals: 6-7 or 13-14 February 2027.
• Nationals: 27-28 February 2027.
