Sprint Hurdles Technical Camps— Winter 2021

England Athletics have teamed up with the Bruce Longden Coaching Foundation to provide three sprint hurdles camp sessions run by former World Junior Champion and England Athletics Talent Event Lead, Julie Pratt-Benterman, and Commonwealth Gold Medallist - former British record holder and Olympian, Lorna Boothe MBE.

These sessions are designed to develop athletes through the event and to help prepare sprint hurdlers who wish to apply for the Youth Talent Programme.

The 2-hour camps are targeted at U15 and U17 sprint hurdlers. They will cover a variety of important technical aspects of the technical model of the event to help the athletes become faster and more effective hurdlers. Athletes will be coached on the following areas:

  • Foot contact, speed & positioning
  • Hurdle clearance time
  • Hip mobility & flexibility
  • Hurdle drills
  • Race modelling

Personal coaches are encouraged to attend and observe the session. They will also have the opportunity to ask the lead coaches questions after each session.

We will be running two camps simultaneously at Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre and the David Weir Leisure Centre (formerly Sutton Arena) on all three dates. The details are as follows:
