Maximum Velocity Running online masterclass with Dr. Ken Clark

We’re excited to announce the details of our latest online Masterclass – providing a unique development opportunity for both coaches and athletes!

The masterclass, on Friday 26 March (7:30pm) will focus on the Biomechanical Principles in Developing Maximum Velocity Running and we’re delighted to welcome a leader in the field of biomechanics, Dr. Ken Clark, as the guest presenter.

The exclusive webinar-based session will help coaches and athletes gain a stronger understanding of the underpinning biomechanics principles and how they can implement these into their own coaching/athletic performance.

The webinar will be hosted by England Athletics Event Group Lead for Jumps and Combined Events, Darren Ritchie, with the feature presentation from Dr. Ken Clark who will be on video link from his base in the USA.  Dr. Clark is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at West Chester University (WCU), joining the WCU faculty in 2015. He teaches Biomechanics and Kinetic Anatomy at the undergraduate level, and Motor Learning at both the undergraduate and graduate level, with special expertise in speed and agility development. In this masterclass,

Dr. Clark will present on the biomechanical principles in developing maximum velocity running and will discuss what the latest research tell us, the critical factors and the considerations for coaching practice.

Dr. Clark’s research interests include the mechanical factors underlying athletic performance and injury mechanisms, and he has special expertise in speed and agility development. He has peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Journal of Applied Physiology, Journal of Experimental Biology, Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, and the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research.

In addition to teaching and conducting research, Dr. Clark has over a decade of speed development and strength & conditioning coaching experience. He has coached in the private sector (Summit Sports Training Center), at high school level (Dallas Jesuit Prep), and in the collegiate setting (Dickinson College, Haverford College, and WCU). He has worked with speed and power athletes on the WCU Track and Field team and has also been a biomechanics consultant for USA Track and Field, ALTIS, and Parisi Speed School, among others. Dr. Clark has coaching certifications from the NSCA, USA-Weightlifting, and USA Track & Field.

Dr. Clark completed his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Swarthmore College in 2003, where he was a two-time All-Conference running back for the football team, and obtained his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology at West Chester University in 2009. He received his PhD in Applied Physiology and Biomechanics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 2014, where he was mentored by Dr. Peter Weyand.
