Coach recruitment for Team England Track and Field team for Birmingham 2022

England Athletics is pleased to announce it has started the process for recruiting coaches to support England’s Track and Field team at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The official roles across all disciplines will have a major impact on the collective and individual performance of Team England athletes at the Games.

These are really exciting opportunities which carry considerable responsibility and will be incredibly rewarding experiences for the successful applicants. Birmingham 2022 is the first home Commonwealth Games in England since Manchester in 2002. It is the pinnacle of England’s international team programme.

Kelly Sotherton, Team England Track and Field Team Leader for Birmingham 2022, said: “It is a very exciting time to be a part of our sport as we work towards the first Commonwealth Games in England for two decades. Being involved in a major sporting event as a coach and having the opportunity to positively impact on the performance of an athlete is special. To do that at a ‘home’ Commonwealth Games will make it even more so.

"The staff at England Athletics are fully committed to making sure the experience for athletes involved in the Games in Birmingham will be the very best it can be. We are looking for support coaches to help us achieve this aim as well as enjoy what will be an incredibly rewarding experience.”

The number of official Team England coaches and their roles and responsibilities will depend on the make-up and size of the team. Team staff positions will be extremely limited. We expect to receive more expressions of interest than team accredited places so not every applicant will be successful.
