World University Cross Country Team
A team of British Students is to be selected for the World University Cross Country following the British Universities Cross Country Championships on 6 February 2016.
British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) will send a team to the event in Cassino, Italy, on 12 March 2016 and athletes wishing to be considered for selection should ensure they complete the BUCS nomination form before 21 January 2016.
Recognising the value of the World University Championships and its importance as a key international opportunity, England Athletics and the other home countries have worked together with BUCS to facilitate the creation of a BUCS team representing Great Britain.
British Athletics have been fully supportive of this collaboration and have welcomed the opportunity for students to get the chance to race internationally in this event again.
Spencer Duval, National Coach Mentor Lead (Endurance) at England Athletics said, “The BUCS cross country is an important event on the athletics calendar. The time when students are at university is also an important stage in their athletics development. We are delighted that the work we have undertaken has come to fruition in bringing this extra opportunity for our endurance athletes, both in terms of their development and as an opportunity to represent their country. We would like to thanks BUCS, the other home countries and British Athletics for their cooperation and work in this process.”
The prestigious BUCS Cross Country event on 6th February will serve as a trial for the teams with the first three athletes in the men’s and women’s events automatically selected (subject to performance criteria).
The team going to Italy will be staffed by a combination of very experienced coaches and management from the home countries to create a BUCS GB team.

Venue: Plock Court, Gloucester
Races: Men's Long - 10.2km, Men's Short - 7.3km, Women's - 6.1km
To enter: Contact your University Athletics Union / Sports Department to enter you through BUCScore.
Entry Deadline: 11.59pm Thursday 21st January 2016.
