England Athletics name strong team for the 2022 Anglo Celtic Plate 100k

England Athletics are delighted to announce the England team selected to compete in the 2022 Anglo Celtic Plate 100k on 3 April. The team represents an excellent mix of experience and athletes with future potential over ultra distances.

Women

  • Matt Dickinson (Clapham Chasers, Phil Kissi)
  • Joseph Turner (Cambridge & Coleridge, Nick Anderson)
  • Mark Innocenti (Tring RC, Marcus Scotney)

Ollie Garrod is selected after winning the 2021 Barry 40 and achieving a 2nd place finish at the 2021 Donadea 50K in 2:54:29 and running 2:23:39 at the London Marathon in October. Samantha Amend is one of the England's most experienced ultra distance athletes. A previous winner of the ACP Amend is selected following her 3rd placed finish at the Donadea 100k in August. Michael Taylor broke the course record at the 2020 Barry 40 when running 3:53:04 and won the Blackpool Marathon in the Autumn of 2021. Caroline Turner is an athlete with extensive ultra distance experience the breaking course record at the Grand Tour of Skiddaw and winning te multi stage Volcano Ultra in 2021, ending the year with a 2:48 marathon in Malaga. Matt Dickinson is selected after running 2:19:23 at the 2021 London Marathon. With previous ultra experience Matt is an athlete with great potential over the longer distances. Amy Sarkies is selected after a top 10 finish at the GB mountain trial at Scafell Pike in August and having set course records at Hurtwood 50k and Shires & Spires 35 mile all in 2021. Joseph Turner is selected after a consistent period of racing in the last two years capped off by a fine performance at the 2021 d'Ultrafons en Pisa running 88.7km over 6 hours. Mark Innocenti (Tring RC) was is selected after running 12:34:51 for 100 miles in April 2021 before going on to 5th placed finish at the Donadea 100k in August. Valeria Sesto is an athlete with extensive 100k experience and good form over trail ultra distances in the last two years.

The team is supported by Darren Reevell (Team Leader, Pocklington) along with Annie Pointon (Team staff, Wreake & Soar Valley) and Bashir Hussain (Team staff, Stockport AC)
