England Athletics awards third University Bronze Charter Mark to Solent University

England Athletics is pleased to announce that Solent University is the third university to be awarded the Bronze Charter Mark.

The Charter Mark recognises the high standards of support being offered to athletes from all athletic events at universities, including bursaries, excellent training facilities, highly qualified staff, inclusive training and competitive environments, high performance gyms, sports science support and pastoral guidance. The universities that are awarded an England Charter Mark have to meet high standards of support and facilities and offer a vibrant training and competitive environment across all athletics disciplines and for all levels of athletes.

Solent University provides a welcoming environment for elite, club level and social members. Bursaries are available and term time structured training plans are available for all club members. In addition to the sport and fitness facilities at the university, the student athletics club enjoys a strong partnership with nearby Southampton AC, benefiting from the coaching expertise and facilities available at the club.

England Athletics is delighted to be working with key universities to signpost athletes, parents and coaches to quality assured provision. For those athletes looking to maintain a dual career pathway, Charter Mark universities offer a realistic alternative to the American route and we’re looking forward to developing stronger working relationship with these universities.
