Yorks & Humberside Regional Council

The regional council co-ordinates the interests and activities of the voluntary sector within athletics in order to develop all disciplines of the sport. They represent the interests of the voluntary sector and provide leadership whilst co-ordinating interaction between volunteer and professional groups to further the sport within the region.

Malcolm Fletcher (Chair)  malcolmf@blueyonder.co.uk
Malcolm worked in the steelworks in a variety of rolls for over fifty years, finishing up as works engineer. Never an athlete but a very keen on sport, Malcolm first got involved when his daughter joined his local athletics club and started officiating as a field official. He is still doing so 38 years later! During his time in the sport he has taken on many roles in administration at club level and when athletics structure was reformed and governance was taken over by UKA, he was part of the team that formed Northern athletics from the Northern Counties A.A. When regional councils were formed by England Athletics, Malcolm was one of the original members on the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional council. Like many people, Malcolm wears several hats, one being Chair of the Yorkshire County Association.

Mike started running in the early 80s competing in road races mainly half marathons and marathons. In the late 80s he joined St Bede's AC in Bradford (now renamed Saltaire Striders) and has been actively involved as secretary for 20 years and chairman for 4. Mike was a member of the North Of England general Committee and represented endurance on the Regional Council from its inception. He has been chair for four years, and she erved on the England Board for three years. He is Chair of the Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Panel for road race licensing, an endurance official and a qualified endurance coach leading beginners' groups.

Tim started running at 40, becoming a member of Stroud AC then moved North to Leeds City AC and is now at Holmfirth Harriers AC.  He has served on all 3 management committees and is Chairman of Yorkshire Veterans' AA and West Yorkshire Management Group.  He is qualified as a level 2 endurance official and still a very active runner at 71.  Tim says, "Athletics has given me a lot, so I have no problem giving a lot back in service."

Gordon Agar
Gordon has over 35 years in administration of the sport and 30 years as Yorkshire men’s team selector.  In addition he has been North of England AAA standards secretary for 15 years, West Yorkshire T & F secretary over 25 years and is West Yorkshire cross country secretary.  He is a member of the northern counties executive committee.  He is currently a Level 3 performance & development coach, plus officiates as a starter, marksman and field judge.  He was Head coach endurance for ESAPLD in the 90s.
