Regional coach and athlete workshop - Endurance (Leeds)

Venue: John Charles Centre For Sport, Middleton Grove, Leeds LS11 5DJ

Endurance workshops looking at specific areas for endurance coaches looking to develop their athletes. The workshop will be covering training planning over a 12-month period leading into target events (single double periodisation). Although largely classroom-based it will include case studies of when the plan gets interupted through injury and illness.

National Endurance Conference - How to Win: The Development of Power and Speed for Endurance

Venue: The Devon Hotel, Old Matford Lane, Exeter EX2 8XU

Speakers including Malcolm Brown (coach to many international athletes as well as Alistair and Jonny Brownlee), and Barry Fudge (Head of Endurance at British Athletics). The weekend takes the theme "How to Win - the development of power and speed for endurance" and has a mix of workshop, practical, discussion and networking sessions.

Race Walk Training Day (Leeds)

Race Walk Training Day. This session will focus on technique and conditioning for race walking, tempo training, and a QA session with an international athlete reflecting on their 2017 season.

Regional coach and athlete workshop - Throws (Sheffield)

Venue: EIS English Institute of Sport, Coleridge Road, Sheffield S9 5DA

England Athletics will be hosting regional coach and athlete development workshops covering discus, shot, javelin, hammer, and club. The workshops will be inclusive and will therefore include seated and ambulant throwing support where appropriate. These workshops are aimed at coaches who have completed the Athletics Coach qualification of the old level 2 and above.

Covering 100m to 400m, sprint and long hurdles. 1.5 hour theory session on managing athletes in a training environment then a 1.5 hour practical session - with event specialist to identify key principles to add value and context to your coaching. Part 1 of a 2 part series.

Researchers at Leeds Beckett University are offering Yorkshire-based coaches the opportunity to attend free workshops. The workshops will promote healthy athlete development and sustained engagement in sport with an additional focus on anti-doping.

Endurance workshops looking at specific areas for endurance coaches looking to develop their athletes. The workshop will look at workloads for varying age groups and at different times in the training year, using case studies as examples. Hopefully, if sufficient athletes are in attendance, the final hour will be devoted to drills, stretching and also how to recover between reps.

Movement Skills Workshop: Part 1 - run, jump, throw (Castleford)

Day one of a workshop on how to develop the movement skills which will enable your athletes to move more quickly and efficiently, generate greater force and reduce the risks of injury. This workshop is for coaches working with athletes who are club level through to aspiring to international level.
