Step 2
Before becoming a licensed Official, you must complete 4 practical competition experiences, where you will be able to meet and learn from qualified and knowledgeable officials.
You need to show evidence of undertaking a variety of roles and in the case of field officials, of officiating in both horizontal and vertical jumps and both shot put and one of the long throws. This may require more than four meetings. Starter/Starter’s Assistant need 4 experiences in each discipline.
If you are interested in taking part in events:
- Contact your Club’s Officials’ Secretary
- Get in touch with the relevant County Officials’ Secretary (COfSec)
- Join the Athletics Officials facebook group where Officials Wanted and Available are posted regularly.
- Search the England Athletics latest Licensed Competitions list. This Excel spreadsheet is updated weekly and contains all currently licensed events, and shows date, venue, region and contact website. You can sort and filter by any of these options.
