Bronwin Carter

Bronwin is a throws coach with City of Portsmouth Athletics Club. For over 35 years, she has given her time tirelessly to the club and her athletes, often training 5-6 days per week with over 20 javelin throwers, 15 shot-putters and 6 para-athletes from all walks of life!

Even when unwell, she never lets her athletes down, and regularly travels at her own expense to support her athletes at competitions. In 2017, she took a UK contingent of throwers over to the Finland Javelin Carnival, coaching all week alongside top Finnish Coaches.

She never misses the chance to pass on her knowledge, with one of her mentees commenting: “I have been her assistant for four years and I am still drawing on her vast knowledge and learning new things every week.” Her face is one well known and much respected within the throws coaching community.”

In 2017, two of Bronwin’s U18 athletes formed part of the England team at the Commonwealth Youth Games. This adds to the five throwers selected to represent Hampshire at the English Schools Finals in Birmingham, alongside 11 athletes ranked in the top 19 in the UK across all age groups at the end of the 2017 season and two para-athletes ranked in the top three!
