Team revealed for 2025 Anglo Celtic Plate 100k
England Athletics is delighted to announce the athletes selected to represent England at the Anglo Celtic Plate 100km.
This year the event will take place at Mallory Park race course in Leicestershire, on the 3rd May. The competition sees teams from Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland compete for the Anglo-Celtic Plate and is also the British 100k Championships.
There will be strong teams of five athletes following on from a women’s gold and men’s silver at last year’s event in Perth, Scotland.
Steph McCall (Clapham Chasers, Geoff Watkin) makes the women’s team after finishing 10th at the 56km Two Oceans Marathon in South Africa last year on her first outing into ultra-marathons after hitting 2:44 as a marathon PB on the road.
She is joined by experienced ultra-runner Kelsey Price (RunHead AC, David Bone) who has run 231km over 24hrs to put herself ninth on the GB&NI all time list for the distance, as well as winning iconic ultra-marathons such as the 145 mile Grand Union Canal Race.
Belinda Houghton (Fylde Coast Runners, Mike Gratton) is selected after a 2:51 marathon PB at Boston Marathon in April 2024, and also brings a 2:44 PB from 2022.Â
2:54 marathoner, Katie Young, (Fulham RC, Neil Bryant) gains selection after several stand-out trail performances including wins at the North Downs Way 50 and the Costa Rica Coastal Challenge multi-day race.
The team is completed by Jennifer Wood (Paddock Wood AC, Jamie Stephenson) after an excellent 131km in 12 hours in Barcelona in December 2024.Â
The men’s team is led by Ioan-Marius Posa (Belgrave Harriers, Charlie Dickinson) who ran 6:54:47 in the British 100k Championship last year for 7th place in the highly competitive race.Â
Also making the team after featuring in last year’s 100k Championships was Dan Summers (Westbury Harriers, Marcus Scotney) who qualifies with his 7:06:23.
Rob Payne (Caistor RC, Robbie Britton) ran 7:11:50 in the same race, and will be looking to improve on this time in 2025 after running a 2:23:32 marathon PB at Chester Marathon later in the year.
Similar to Kelsey Price in the women’s team, Matthew Field (Bad Boy RC, Nathan Flear) is bringing world class 24hr running pedigree, after running a British record of 281.31km last summer.Â
The final member of the men's team is Shaun Dixon (South West Vets AC) who also showed his potential on the trails with a 4:03:54 win and CR at the Ham & Lyme 50k. The 2:25 marathoner has been excelling on the cross country to start the year.Â
