Podcast #66: Didi Okoh & Jonathan Broom-Edwards on the Paralympics

In the latest episode of the England Athletics Podcast, Great Britain's Didi Okoh tells her story ahead of making her major championship debut in the 100m at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Okoh's first taste of competitive athletics was in 2012. Since then, the 21-year-old has taken part in a number of pentathlons, specialising in particular in high jump and 800m.

But her first competition running against para athletes came as recently as last year's indoor season.

When she was a teenager, Okoh was diagnosed with a rare condition called lymphedema, which causes excess fluid to collect in body tissues, resulting in swelling.

She explains her journey of adapting to sprinting with the condition and the confidence she has gained from her success.

That includes winning the British Universities title for the University of Birmingham, where she has been studying Law and Criminology.

We also catch up with Paralympic high jump champion Jonathan Broom-Edwards at the England Athletics Senior Championships.

The episode can be listened to in full on Spotify, as well as Soundcloud and Apple Podcasts.
