New talent pathway athlete cohorts announced for 2024

England Athletics is pleased to announce the athletes selected for the Youth Talent Programme (YTP), Junior Talent Programme (JTP), Senior Programme (SP) and Para Academy.

From taking the first steps on the England Athletics talent pathway as a YTP athlete all the way through to seniors targeting the 2026 Commonwealth Games, we are delighted to support athletes across all event groups throughout their competitive careers. The talent pathway is fully inclusive and integrated and welcomes both para and able-bodied athletes across the age groups. Athletes selected on to the Para Academy will have the opportunity to attend both the full cohort weekends, and dedicated Para Academy development days.

We are pleased to work with our four Talent Hubs based in Leeds, Loughborough, Birmingham and St Mary's Twickenham. Each of these universities have been chosen with their world-leading facilities and team of dedicated staff ready to support our athletes with everything from coaching to nutrition, physios to bio-mechanics and psychological support.

Speaking on the selections Head of Talent Development, Sarah Benson, said:

“We would like to offer our huge congratulations to all the athletes, para-athletes and their personal coaches who have been selected for the various programmes on our inclusive talent pathway. From the Youth Talent Programme right through to the Senior Programme, we are committed to putting the athlete first by developing, educating and providing opportunities to athletes and para-athletes to enable them to fulfil their potential."

Talent Pathway Manager, Alan Richardson, added:

"Each year the talent pathway and in particular the Youth Talent Programme goes from strength to strength. It is a great opportunity for athletes and personal coaches to develop technically and receive dedicated event specific training with like-minded peers. Away from the technicalities, athletes will also make lifelong friendships and grow personally, enhancing their journey in athletics and wider life."
