Masters 5k team announced
Our Masters programme offers England Athletics affiliated runners, age 35+, an annual rolling programme of qualifying events and representative opportunities.
The selection panel have met and we are pleased to announce the team for the forthcoming England Masters 5k representative race against Wales. This year's event is incorporated into the Mid Cheshire 5k which takes place in Kingsley on 23 August.
The selected athletes have already communicated their delight at being able to represent England, F40 Lucy Wasinski from Glossop Harriers enthused, "I would not have entered a 5k last month without this England Athletics opportunity - so would never have found out what I was capable of! I am hugely proud and hope I can now do the vest justice.”
M35 Mark Emmerson reiterated this point;
"I started running in late 2017 via parkrun, aged 32. And to be representing England less than 7 years on is the stuff of dreams and beyond my wildest imagination."
At the higher end of the age groups, 68 year old Jenny Morgan F65 is also a keen parkrunner:
"I was delighted and very honoured to have been selected to represent my country; it will be a very proud day and one that I will treasure for ever.
And in the men's 65+ category, Tim Taylor told us, "Running DNA is in my blood so it means so very much."
Working her way up the AGe Groups, Kirsty Longley commented,
"I have the 4th fastest 5k in history for a V45 in 16.43. As I am now 48 can I go quicker?"
