Looking forward to an action-packed summer
As we enter the outdoor spring and summer season, England Athletics wants to wish all our members, athletes, and volunteers the very best of success as we look forward to an action-packed track and field programme and to reinforce our ongoing commitment to developing and supporting a sustainable and enjoyable sport for all as we continue to work together with our partners UK Athletics and the other Home Country Athletics Federations to make that happen.
Over the coming weeks we will be communicating in more detail about our priorities for this year, in our drive to inspire athletes of all ages and abilities to fulfil their potential and build a lifelong love of the sport.
As we have previously communicated during the last year, England Athletics has acted to take on greater responsibility in the areas of road and multi-terrain race licensing, coach and officials’ education, competition licensing, and the talent pathway to preserve and strengthen the focus on such important areas that are central to our strategic plan. Further details on these developments will be shared in the coming period.
We are also exploring, with UKA and our Home Country partners, the feasibility of a new UK-wide integrity unit to help manage the increasing costs and resource requirements associated with tackling the important matters of safeguarding and welfare in the sport.
Innovation and new models of delivery will be required to bring new investment into the sport during the coming period and we want to provide our members with the chance to shape the future of athletics in England. Tell us what you enjoy most about athletics, what drives your involvement, what you see as the biggest challenges and opportunities for the sport in this country. And don’t forget to tell us what England Athletics can do as a body to help from your perspective.
Whatever your hopes for the 2023 spring and summer season we thank you for your ongoing commitment to our great sport and hope that you fulfil your dreams and aspirations. To all those club runners taking part in this weekend’s TCS London Marathon we hope you enjoy the wonderful experience at this most premier of endurance events.
