Introducing our new Youth Vision Group

The Home Country Athletics Federations (HCAFs), including England Athletics, are pleased to confirm the formation of their new Youth Vision Group, which will meet for the first time in December.

The group is being formed as part of the HCAFs’ work to address the falling participation numbers in track and field, and includes young people aged between 15 and 24 from across all four home countries.

The members of the group are all either existing members of athlete representative groups; have been recruited through open applications; or invited after having previously been nominated for volunteering awards.

In recent years, the sport has seen:

Dean Hardman leads the HCAF-wide project to address these issues, and explains the role that the Youth Vision Group will play:

“The HCAFs are committed to listening to the views of young people, and the purpose of the Youth Vision Group is to develop a vision for how track and field competition should be delivered from the perspective of current participants.

“The work of the group will then feed into a wider strategy for the future of track and field, which is being developed in partnership with organisations from across the sport.”

The group will meet for the first time next month, with the frequency of subsequent meetings to be decided by the group members.
