We are pleased to share that the Hall of Fame and Awards Evening is back for 2024!
Launched in 2008, we have now inducted over 120 athletes, coaches and important figures in the history of athletics and running into our prestigious Hall of Fame. After a year away, the Hall of Fame is now back, and will be held in Leicester on 2 November.
To be a part of a special celebration of our wonderful sport, you can purchase tickets to join us for the evening dinner and awards presentation which will also feature the winners of the 2024 England Athletics’ National Volunteer Awards.

- Charles Bennett - The first Briton to win an Olympic gold in athletics (1500m, and the 5k team in 1900), he has also achieved an Olympic silver over the steeplechase. Charles was also a former World Record holder and five-time AAA champion.
- Lorna Boothe MBE - Lorna has had significant involvement in the sport for over 50 years . A sprint hurdler, she is a double Olympian (Moscow and Montreal) plus represented England at the 1978 and 1982 Commonwealth Games where earned a gold and silver medal respectively. A British team manager for 9 years, Lorna was senior Team Manager at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and was the England speed events coach at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. She now holds the position of member-elected director on the England Athletics board and still supports athletes and England Athletics as an experienced coach.
- Stan Greenberg - Stan was a founding member of the NUTS magazine and a legendary statistician. He was the man at the helm of the BBC's commentator statistics for 26 years as well as acting as the advisory statistician to the Great Britain team selection committee for almost 30 years.
- Nicola Sanders OLY - One of our 400m all-time greats, Nicola has won the a silver at the 400m World Championships in 2007 and European Indoors gold in the same year. She has also had success on an Olympic stage winning a bronze in the 4x400m in Beijing. During her career, she also claimed: world bronze 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011; World Indoor gold 2012; European Championships silver 2010; European Indoors bronze 2007.
- Robbie Grabarz OLY - At his best, Robbie Grabarz was an Olympic, World and European medallist of the very highest global quality, winning an Olympic silver medal for the high jump at London 2012. He has also claimed World Indoor Silver (2016); European Championships gold (2012), silver (2016), European Indoor silver (2017) and became Diamond League champion in 2014. Now retired, Robbie is a very successful high jump coach in his own right.
- Richard Whitehead MBE - One of the greatest ever Paralympians Richard has won 200m Paralympic gold in 2012 and 2016 followed by silver in 2021. He has also won World Para Championships gold medals in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017; European Para Championships gold in 2012 and 2016, along with multiple major 100m medals including Paralympic Silver medal 2016.
- Jenny Meadows and Trevor Painter - Jenny and Trevor have made a great athletics team for more than two decades. First as athlete and coach and now as joint guardians of some of the best British talent the sport has ever seen. Amongst their current crop of athletes are Keely Hodgkinson and Georgia Bell, but their impact at all levels in the north west and beyond has been significant, helping to shape the future of middle distance in the UK. Jenny’s major achievements under the coaching guidance of Trevor include 800m World Indoor Championships silver (2010), World bronze (2009), European Indoor Championships silver (2011) and European Championships silver (2010). In a team capacity, Jenny has also won medals in the 4 x 400m including 2009 World bronze, 2011 European Indoor Championships silver.
