Give the gift of athletics this #GivingTuesday
Today is #GivingTuesday—a global day to make a difference. At Personal Best Foundation – England Athletics’ official charity - we believe in the power of athletics to transform lives. But for too many children facing poverty or inequality, the joy of sport remains out of reach.
With just £10, you can help change that. Your gift could bring athletics to children who’ve never had the chance to experience the camaraderie, confidence, and joy of being part of a community.
Take 8-year-old Amina*, who recently joined her first after-school athletics session in Lewisham thanks to our funded programme. For the first time, she felt part of something bigger. She left with red cheeks, a huge smile, and a newfound sense of accomplishment. Imagine the impact you could make for more children like Amina*.
Here's how your donations can help
We know that over the recent years, families throughout England have been feeling the pinch which can have an domino impact on the money they can spend on leisure activities. This is where through a small donation, you can help to support children to get active and have fun with athletics.
Here's where your donations will go:
- £20 could pay to train a funetics leader to inspire the next generation.
- £50 could fund 16 children to enjoy their first after-school funetics
session. - £500 could deliver an 8-week after-school funetics programme to a
community in need.

Some examples of the impact so far
With thanks to our donors and supporters, this last year, 200 children from 10 primary schools in Lewisham’s most deprived areas have been introduced to athletics through funetics—a fun, inclusive programme designed to boost confidence and enjoyment. These children, many on free school meals and without access to after-school clubs, have learnt fundamental movement skills like running, jumping, and throwing in a playful, engaging way. For many, it’s their first experience of organised physical activity outside of the school day.

On the Wirral there are currently around 41,000 school age children aged between 8 and 18 years. Before the Warriors club was created there was only one athletics club on the peninsula based exclusively at the track with just 200 junior members. However over the last 12 months, the club has grown to 170 members with over 60% come from the lowest four deciles in the UK for health inequalities, and 55% are female athletes.
