England team ready to take on Snowdon International Mountain Race

Next month sees the return of the Snowdon International Mountain Race (19 July) and the England team are ready and raring to go!

The Snowdon Mountain race is one of the most popular races in the calendar, as well as being one of the toughest, as it tests your speed, climbing and descending skills to the limit.

The selected athletes make up a very competitive team with a mix of experience and athletes making their England debuts.

Men's team

Felix McGrath (Bristol & West, Mike Down): Felix was 5th at the Inter Counties Mountain Race at Pen y Ghent to gain selection, which was also the British Mountain Running Championships. Last year he finished 9th place at the Snowdon International. Felix was also part of an England team that competed last year at the prestigious Italian Mountain Relays at Trofeo Vanoni. Felix has run 29m 51s for 10km this season

Nathan Edmondson (Ilkley Harriers AC): Nathan has raced Snowdon twice before finishing in a fantastic 3rd in 2022. He has also run sub 30 mins for 10km and ran 2hr 21mins at the London Marathon this year. Nathan was 6th at the Inter Counties selection race.

Lawrence McCourt (Morpeth Harriers AC, Laura Weightman): Lawrence was 7th at the Inter Counties to gain selection and will be making his England debut, he has also run a sub 30 mins 10km this season as well as a 65 min half marathon.

John Battrick (Keswick AC): John will also be making his England debut after finishing 8th at the trial, he’s been in great form on the Lakeland fells winning at Grisedale Grind, Lords Seat and Latrigg fell races.

Women's team

Eve Pannone (Ambleside AC, David Roache): Eve is our most experienced athlete and finished 11th at last year’s European Off Road Running Championships in Annecy, France and was also part of the gold medal winning team for GB&NI. Eve was 2nd at last year's Snowdon race and was 4th in the Inter Counties gain selection.

Nancy Scott (Aldershot, Farnham & District): Nancy will be making her England debut and was the winner of the Inter Counties Mountain Race, which was also the British Mountain Running Championships. Nancy, based in Scotland, won the Inverness Half Marathon in March and also ran 72m 51sec for the half marathon in Barcelona in February.

Abbie Pearse (Steel City Striders RC): Abbie was 6th at the Inter Counties, part of the winning Yorkshire team. Abbie will also be making her England debut. She has run sub 35 mins for 10km and ran 2hr 46mins at this year's Copenhagen Marathon.

Rose Mather (York Knavesmire Harriers): Rose was 7th at the Inter Counties and was also part of the winning Yorkshire team and will be another making her England debut at Snowdon.
