England team announced for La Coruna Race Walking Grand Prix

England Athletics are excited to be sending a strong contingent of Race Walkers to compete in the 2024 La Coruna Race Walking Grand Prix. The team of 4 will compete against some of the best Race Walkers in the world with an eye on qualifying times for this summer’s various championships. This is the second time England have sent representatives to this competition and we hope for some great success.

All selected athletes have shown fantastic competitive form over the winter and recent weeks.  Erika Kelly finished top 20 in a tough 20km race in Poland a couple of weeks ago and will be looking to improve on that recent time set.  Abby Hughes has kicked off the season in great form with a new personal best over 10km in March at the England Athletics Race Walk Championships.

The men are equally in great shape with Callum Wilkinson returning from a great altitude trip after an early season 20km in April where Cameron Corbishley finished top 20 in the same race.  Both are looking to improve on the times achieved in Podebrady.

Team

  • Abby Hughes - 10km (Taunton, Dean Miller)
  • Erika Kelly - 20km (Northern, Isle of Man, Tom Craggs)
  • Cameron Corbishley - 20km (Medway & Maidstone, Andi Drake)
  • Callum Wilkinson - 20km (Enfield & Haringey/Leeds Beckett Uni)
