England team announced for Asics Home Nations 5k
England Athletics are delighted to announce a strong team to compete in the Asics Home Nations 5k.
The race will see athletes competing over a fast 5km course in Bute Park, Cardiff on the 20th August against teams from Wales, Scotland, a GB&NI under 23 team and a number of other invited teams.
A strong women's team includes Elle Twentyman (Taunton) who is selected after a fine 2022 which included a 15:46 at the Saucony X Podium 5km in July and a 15:58 clocking at the MK5000mPB Special earlier this month.
Twentyman is joined by Ellie Wallace (Julian Emery, North Somerset) who gains her first senior England vest after a fantastic 15:59 to finish 2nd at the Cardiff Race for Victory 5km in May and setting PBs over 1500m and 3000m in June.
Jess Gibbon (Reading AC) represented GB&NI at the European 10000m Cup in May after running 32:27 at the trial, she is selected after running 16:05 at the Bristol Track Club 5km in April.
Rebecca Johnson (Highgate, Lewis Walker) has enjoyed strong season over 5000m and joins the team after setting a PB of 16:02 at the BMC Grand Prix at Sportcity in May.
The men's team sees Ricky Harvie (Aldershot, Farnham & District) gains another international vest on the road having represented England at the 2021 Inter-Area Relays. Harvie is selected after running 14:07 at the Friday Night Under the Lights Meets Podium 5km in February and a 8:06 clocking over 3000m at the Loughborough International in May.
Cameron Bell (Keith Whitelam, Hallamshire) is the North of England 5000m Champion and is selected after setting a 5000m PB of 14:12 in April.
Jonathan Cornish (Craig Winrow, Hercules Wimbledon) ran 14:17 over 5km in February and has had an excellent 2022 which included a PB of 29:22 over 10km in January.
Callum Jones (Hugo van den Broek, Cornwall AC) has a 5000m PB of 14:05 and is selected after a strong season which included a 3000m PB of 8:1.94 at the BMC in Birmingham in May.
