England Mountain Running Team selected for the Home International and World Trial

Following trials, we are pleased to announce the mountain running team for the Senior Home International to be held at Sedbergh on 19 September 2021.

The trial was the Alderman Ascent Fell race which was an English Championships race held near Oldham. It was a blistering day and some tough running, but there was some great racing and the selectors are very happy with the team and the quality of performance.

On the race day the overall winner was Joe Dugdale (pictured above) who was the Junior World Mountain Running Champion in Patagonia (2019) in the last major international mountain race and 2nd was Jacob Adkin (Keswick AC/Scotland) who is the European Champion from 2019. Only 40 seconds separated the 3rd placed Billy Cartright (pictured below leading Chris Richards on the first climb) from the other three selected senior men.

In the women's race the winner was Hannah Horsburgh (Keswick AC) but she turned down selection to concentrate on the English Championships, 2nd was Sara Wilhoit who competed for Great Britain in Patagonia in the World Long Distance event.
