England Athletics nominated for the Going Green Award!

We are pleased to announce that England Athletics has been nominated for the Going Green Award at the upcoming Community Sport and Recreation Awards held in Leeds on 8 March.

Having published our Sustainability Strategy at the end of 2022, we have since focused on developing the foundations to help us best implement the strategy. We know we are still in the early stages of delivering our mission, but we are really pleased to have been shortlisted for the award.

To help build our resources, our internal green champions have been embedding sustainable decision making within their teams. We have also received support from our member clubs and licensed events demonstrating leadership and best practice, which has significantly helped our initial priority of engagement and advocacy.

Our partnership with The Green Runners has been transformative and we are grateful for the capacity and expertise they bring. This has enabled us to run a pilot, developing a network of green champions within clubs with wraparound support, connectivity, and inspiration.

The awards, hosted by Sport and Recreation Alliance, will be held at Headingley Stadium in Leeds on Friday 8 March. Learn more about the awards and other shortlisted charities, organisations and groups.
