England Athletics member-elected Board position up for re-election

One of the two England Athletics member-elected Board positions is up for re-election at our AGM, scheduled for 26 October 2024. The election process opens today, and the deadline by which England Athletics should have received any nomination is 21 August 2024.

The elected individual will help to play a key role in shaping the future of athletics and running, ensuring that the views and opinions of members are represented, at what is a crucial time for our sport.

England Athletics is three years into its 12-year strategy to 2032, with the aims of creating opportunities, enhancing experiences and powering potential central to everything we do.

Gary Shaughnessy, Chair of England Athletics, said:

"The member-elected Director will support the Board during a hugely significant time for our sport. We know that there are challenges facing athletics and running at the moment, but also that there are numerous opportunities that – with effective and proactive decision-making and governance – we can capitalise on for the long-term success of our sport."

Share and update

We would urge all clubs and member bodies to share details of the role with their members and wider network, and to have reaffiliated by 1 August 2024, in order to have the opportunity to use their full allocation of votes.

Clubs and member bodies should also ensure that their England Athletics portal contains up-to-date Chair, Secretary and Treasurer appointees and contact details, to enable England Athletics to easily verify the nomination or supporter forms on receipt.
