England Athletics announces a strong team to compete at the Copenhagen Half Marathon

England Athletics have selected eight athletes to race in one of Europe's fastest half marathon courses — the Copenhagen Half Marathon. The athletes will come up against Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Iceland in a team competition within the main race.

Calli Thackery (coach: Vince Wilson; club: Hallamshire) represented England at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham over 5000m and set a road 5km PB of 14:58 in July. She has a half marathon PB of 72:16.

Lucy Reid (Richard Owen, Tonbridge) finished 4th at Granollers Half in January before going on to set a big PB to win Cambridge Half in 71:15 in March. She is currently ranked 8th in the UK at half marathon.

Philippa Bowden (Helen Clitheroe, Aldershot, Farnham & District) represented Great Britain at the European 10000m Cup in Pace in May and set a 10000m PB of 32:44 at Night of the 10000m PBs this year. She was 25th at Seville Marathon in February on her debut, running 2:34.

Lauren McNeil (Keith Whitelam, Hallamshire) is selected for her first senior England vest after running her debut half marathon in Vancouver this year where she finished 4th in 73:11.

Ross Millington (Helen Clitheroe, Stockport) finished 2nd at Manchester Marathon this year running 2:11:37. He competed at the Rio Olympics at 5000m and 10000m and he has a half marathon PB is 62:33.

Paulos Surafel (Thames Valley Harriers) set a big half marathon PB of 61:51 at Ghent Half Marathon in 2022 and finished 4th the at England 10km Championships in 2021.

Adam Clarke (Geoff Watkin, Aldershot, Farnham & District) has a 10km PB of 28:34 set in Valencia this year and a half marathon PB of 62:58 from Valencia last year. He finished 13th at Copenhagen Half Marathon last year.

Alexander Leprêtre (Ben Pochee, Highgate Harriers) is selected for his first senior England vest after running 64:38 at Paddock Wood Half Marathon in 2023. He was 7th in the 2021 England 10km Championships and set a 5km PB of 13:55 this year.
