England announce a strong team of six to compete at the 2023 Valencia 10k
Commonwealth Games performers Samantha Harrison (coach: Vince Wilson; club: Charnwood) and Calli Thackery (Vince Wilson, Hallamshire) are both selected for the 2023 Valencia 10k after sensational summers.
Harrison ran a 10km PB of 31:11 at Trafford in March and followed this with 6th placed finishes at the Commonwealth Games and European Championships in August.
Thackery set a big half marathon PB of 69:02 when finishing 12th at the Copenhagen Half Marathon in September following on from 6th placed finished at the European Championship 5000m in August and 14:58 5km PB in July.
Following a win at the Cambridge Half Marathon in March, Lucy Reid (Richard Owen, Tonbridge) was selected after setting a big personal best of 70:29, following this up with a 10km PB of 32:35 in October.
Calum Johnson (Gateshead) is selected after finishing 9th at the Great North Run in September in a time of 63:16. In October Johnson finished 5th at the Great South Run in a time of 48:00.
Jacob Allen (Steve McGowan, Highgate) achieves selection after running 13:46 at the MK5000 PB Special in July following a 29:14 performance at Night of the 10000m PBs in May.
Alexander Leprêtre (Ben Pochee, Highgate) had a fantastic run representing England at the Copenhagen Half Marathon in September, running 63:28 having set a road PB of 13:55 earlier in the year.
Road Running Manager Tom Craggs said;
