Be one of the first to attain the NEW funetics Leaders Certificate

Courses now available, starting mid-October!

Created by funetics and England Athletics to help young people (14 years+) and adults support athletics coaches in the delivery of fun and inclusive athletics for children in current or new junior sections in clubs or in the local community.

The funetics Leaders Certificate is also an opportunity for anyone to marry their interest in athletics with an interest or goal in developing their general leadership skills.

The online workshop includes information on the roles and responsibilities of a leader, how to lead a fun and inclusive funetics session, and further information on how to develop your leadership skills. Full of ‘top tips’ for effective delivery, the course also explores the key principles of running, jumping and throwing whilst providing technical information which supports these principles.

Leading funetics is ideal for junior athletes, sports leaders, students, parents, volunteers and sports Apprentices.

"It’s so exciting. It’s not just the children getting involved. I’ve seen athletes and coaches getting involved and I’ve seen teachers loving it. That’s so important. And of course, the kids loved it!"

Kay Gibson, coach at Peterborough and Nene Valley Athletics club.

The workshops also introduce how funetics utilises the Athletics 365 competency framework to track and assess the physical literacy of children, through the functionality of the funetics digital platform and the funetics coach app.

During the course, the participant will receive information relating to the resources which will be available to the coach they are supervised by, which include:

• Examples of schemes of work/training programmes and lesson/session plans

• Technical tips on how to teach running, jumping and throwing activities

• Activity cards covering a full range of athletics events for young people aged 4-11

Participants receive a certificate of attendance on completion.
