Perhaps the bright cloudless skies over Leicester Saffron Lane stadium were an omen for the first ever Steeplefest event for 'Steeplechase and nothing else' which took place on 6 May. With 50 entrants from all points across the home countries, the event found itself centre stage for those looking for early season times and ESAA qualification, plus an attempt on the all-time British best time for women's 1500m SC.

The Volunteer Awards 2018 are our chance to celebrate and recognise the unsung heroes amongst all of our volunteers in the Athletics and Running community - but we need your help to say 'thank you' to all those people it can't happen without.

The City of Portsmouth AC has been working very hard over the last 12 months to extend the availability of competitive sport to a wider sector. Their Super Series is to provide a competitive outlet for athletes who would not normally have regular competitive opportunity. There's also a very successful U17 / U20 squad who receive extra benefits and incentives.
Safe Athletics is a new initiative developed by UK Athletics and Home Country Athletics Federations that seeks to raise standards of safety within athletics via best practice guidance and information made freely available to anyone involved in its delivery. The Safe Athletics resources will provide the best opportunity to avoid accidents and injuries and help ensure the safety of everyone.
Fresh off the back of his British Athletics Indoor Championships success, Great Britain International Shot Putter Scott Lincoln attended Allerton Junior Athletics Club to put the young athletes through their paces and run a Shot Put technical demonstration.
Steeplechase training and racing opportunities will be held in West Suffolk this spring led by experienced steeplechase coach David Cripps.
Two steeplechase workshops will be taking place in the North West in the coming months. A session on steeplechase technique and session guidance will be delivered by with Stuart Stokes and Helen Clitheroe in Preston on 22nd April, and a session on fuctional strength for steeplechase - deliverd by Trevor Painter and Helen Clitheroe will take place in Wigan on 13th May.
