Whatever your involvement - runner, club officer, coach, leader or any other role - we invite you along to share your ideas, find out about the new and existing initiatives available to you and hear from an international athlete.

Funding opportunity to involve more young people in volunteering now open

Would you like to increase the number of younger people supporting you through volunteering at your club and would like some help to make that happen? Following a successful pilot stage of the Game Changers Youth Volunteering Programme, applications are now open, to support more clubs and groups to involve young people in volunteering opportunities.

Upcoming opportunities for marathon athletes and coaches

With the last of the Marathon Preparation Evenings and the Performance Group Athlete and Coach Marathon weekend coming up soon the new programme to develop marathon running continues to see a great response.The free Preparation Evenings have seen a wide range of athletes and coaches engaging, and physiologist Prof Andy Jones, who worked on the Breaking2 project and elite athletes including Paula Radcliffe, is among those who will be presenting to the Performance Group.

Supporting #RunAndTalk in 2018

To support Time to Talk Day on 1st February, we are encouraging people to #RunAndTalk to improve their mental wellbeing through running and to break down the stigma associated with mental health by getting people talking about it.

Applications invited for next round of Club Run

Applications for our Club Run programme are now open for off-track and road running clubs across the country.In the last eighteen months 64 clubs across the country have got involved in the Club Run programme with well over 100 club run visits having taking place to date and over 2000 running participants taking part in the sessions, involving 25 experienced coaches. A further 40+ clubs will have the opportunity to get involved in Club Run during 2018.

Bob Parker

England Athletics is saddened to hear of the news of the passing away of Bob Parker, aged 88. Bob was coach to international athletes including Dave Bedford, Mara Yamauchi, Alison Wyeth and Andrea Whitcombe as well as working with many other club athletes.

Important Reminder: Information for clubs about General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

We would like to remind you of important information regarding Data Protection. A change in government legislation regarding data protection called The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)will be in place from 25th May 2018. Athletics and running clubs will have to ensure that they are compliant with the new Government regulations. Last November England Athletics produced guidance for affiliated clubs and associations to help with identifying the key areas that they should now be addressing as a result of the additional requirements arising from the upcoming introduction of GDPR.
