What is funetics?
Created by England Athletics, funetics is a fun and inclusive kids athletics programme, to help 4–11-year-old children across the country to learn, develop and practice running, jumping and throwing skills all year round, for a healthy confident future.
Helping children to have fun whilst getting active, funetics provides a safe, fun and nurturing environment for children to develop fundamental movement skills and confidence to help support them in different sports in the future.
England Athletics’ vision is for every primary school aged child in the country to be able to access funetics sessions to learn the fundamental movement skills of running, throwing and jumping via a trackable physical literacy-based course. Its also easily delivered as part of PE in primary schools, after school clubs, holiday camps, and at our satellite centres, ensuring all primary aged children have easy access and affordable opportunities of run, jump, throw. funetics has the ability to be delivered all year round indoor/outdoor, and through a variety of delivery partners.

Our guiding principles
- Safe – our kid's sports activities are delivered with safety as a first priority
- Encouraging – children will always be encouraged for their effort
- Rewarding – we recognise and celebrate children who demonstrate both physical skills and softer skills such as teamwork, punctuality and determination
- Developmental – we deliver age-appropriate sessions that allow children to learn at their own pace
- Child-centred – we always put the child at the heart of our programme development and delivery
Trackable and physical literacy based
funetics is the first primary school kids athletics programme to offer long term trackable physical literacy against a skills-based competency framework.
The curriculum has been developed using existing resources and material from all over the world and has been reviewed by many of the UK’s leading coaches and world-renowned coaching names.
