Let’s make it a safe and successful season together!

As the outdoor season kicks off, we want to extend a huge thank you to all our incredible officials. The dedication and high standards you've shown so far this year are truly appreciated by everyone at England Athletics. You play a vital role in ensuring athletes, parents, coaches, and volunteers have a fantastic experience at every event. Not only do you enforce the rules, but you're also key to the safety and well-being of everyone involved, including your fellow officials.
Officials of all levels, disciplines, and experiences work together to create supportive, enjoyable, and safe environments at every event. And what better time than the start of the track and field season to refresh our understanding of how we can keep ourselves and others safe while doing what we love?
Essential resources for a safe season
- Long throws and throwing events training: We recently had a 'Communities of good practice' (COP) online session on long throws. You can watch this on our website - the webinar offers great insights into running throwing events safely and positively.

- Long throws protocol: launched last year, this downloadable guide is a handy resource to keep with you at any meeting you're officiating.

- Health and safety module:
a free online e-learning module you can complete at your
convenience to help you to be prepared to operate safely as an official and keep others safe too.
Access the health and safety module on Athletics Hub.
If you've already completed it, you can revisit it anytime via Athletics Hub > Online Courses > MyLearning.
Officiating is a truly rewarding passion, creating memorable and positive experiences for everyone involved. By starting each meeting as a united team and finishing as one, you have the power to create not only a positive atmosphere but, most importantly, a safe one where everyone can enjoy our sport.
Thank you for your dedication and commitment to ensuring secure and successful events. We're looking forward to a fantastic season with you!
