Department of Education consultation – give your views

We would like to draw the attention of our member clubs and their volunteers to a Department for Education consultation.

This consultation is to inform the development of a draft voluntary safeguarding code of practice for out-of-school settings and accompanying guidance for parents. The draft guidance for parents sets out key questions they may wish to consider when choosing an out-of-school setting for their child.

This is relevant to athletics and running clubs who make provision for young athletes as it relates to “any institution which provides tuition, training, instruction, or activities to children in England without their parents’ or carers’ supervision”.

To submit your views, as an individual or on behalf of an organisation, please go to consult.education.gov.uk/regulatory-framework-unit/out-of-school-settings-voluntary-safeguarding-code/.

The closing date for responses is 24 February 2019.
