Bracknell AC helping to pave the way in supporting athletics volunteers

Bracknell Athletics Club got involved last year as a pilot club for our new Game Changers Youth Volunteering Programme. They have since been supporting 10 young people through their Coaching Assistant Course. The Game Changers have had the chance to learn and develop new skills and gain experience through a wide range of opportunities, including weekly coaching sessions, officiating at events, leading groups of young athletes at the Quad Kids tournament and planning their own sessions.

As a bonus, the club's Chairman Julian Starkey is researching volunteering around athletics as part of his MSc with Henley Business School. He has an online survey you are invited to take part in to better determine how to mobilise more people to help support athletics, and will be sharing the results with us at England Athletics.

We'll be reporting back on the survey results later this year and our CEO Chris Jones will also be visiting the club in a few months as part of his Club Visits programme, and to see Bracknell's Game Changers delivering their coaching on a club night.

Don't forget, if your club wants to be a part of Game Changers, applications are open until Monday 5th March 2018. You can also contact us at gamechangers@englandathletics.org with any questions you might have.
