Club Guide - Club Training Practices

Welcome to our Club Training Practices (with Run Leaders and Coaches) Club Guide

This guide outlines the importance of club commitees, leaders and coaches working together collaboratively to deliver a positive experience for all athletes and runners. It also highlights the benefits and responsibilities involved in using both licensed leaders and coaches and unlicensed volunteers in the running of club training sessions.

Leaders and coaches are key components of athletics and running clubs and must work collaboratively together to deliver a positive experience for athletes and runners.  Club committees are responsible for their own governance and how their club operates – this includes club activity delivered by leaders and
coaches. This guide aims to:

  1. Ensure club committees are aware of their responsibilities regarding the delivery of club training activity.
  2. Ensure clubs understand the requirements for using volunteers, leaders and coaches.
  3. Support clubs to create a safe and positive experience for their members.
