England Athletics value the importance of competitive road running opportunities for those athletes looking to gain first time international experience as well those looking to prepare for future major competitions. The Parelloop 10k was added to the England Athletics programme of road running international opportunities in 2018 and the race itself is very well established with a 30 year history. The race has a reputation for attracting high quality elite runners to a fast course. In 2009 Micah Kipkemboi Kogo (KEN) set what was a new 10k world record at the time in 27:01 on this course and this still ranks third in the all-time world rankings of fastest 10k performances.

Last year’s top performance from the England team came from Sam Stabler who ran a personal best of 29:09 which placed him 5th in Brunssum. The event should provide a fantastic opportunity for the selected athletes to race in a fast race with a competitive international field.

*In the event of athletes selected for this event achieving selection for the World Cross these athletes would be replaced by a reserve to enable us to support as many English athletes as possible to make the most of the competition opportunities available.
