Jason Carty: 1969-2021
England Athletics are sorry to hear of the death of Jason Carty, World Masters Athletics M45 60m (2015) and 100m (2018) champion and British M45 100m record holder.
In 2016, Carty was diagnosed with lung cancer. But he returned to competitive athletics after having one lung removed and continued to win medals. As an M50 athlete last year, he broke the 100m record and twice broke the indoor 60m record.
He was a member of Southern Counties Vets and Ealing, Southall and Middx AC, and was also a performance coach to sprinters ranging in age from U23 and to V35.
He will be greatly missed by the sport.
