Harrison and Leprêtre claim England titles as the snow falls at Telford 10k
Hundreds of runners from across England braved cold snowy conditions to race at the England 10km road championships at Telford on Sunday.
Samantha Harrison (club: Charnwood; coach Vince Wilson) set a course record as she retained her 2021 title crossing the line in a stunning 31:10, to see her ranked third on the all-time England rankings. Harrison, who made her Commonwealth Games debut for Team England earlier this year at Birmingham 2022 finishing 6th in the 10,000m, will be representing England at the Valencia 10km in January.

Gemma Steel (Charnwood) ran her fastest time for six years to claim the silver medal in 32:57, third overall in the race behind Welsh athlete Clara Evans, with Lily Partridge (Birchfield Harriers) running 33:04 to claim the bronze medal. In one of the strongest domestic fields in years 33 women broke 35 minutes.
Alexander Leprêtre (Highgate, Ben Pochee) claimed his first individual senior England title and set a new PB of 28:53 as he ran clear of a fantastic field where 24 men broke 30 minutes. The silver medal went to Jacob Allen (Highgate, Steve McGowan) who also smashed his 10km PB clocking 28:56. Both Alexander and Jacob will be joining Samantha on the England team competing at the Valencia 10k in January.
The bronze medal went to David Mullarkey (Leeds City, Ander Henderson) who just edged Shaftesbury & Barnet Harrier Keiran Clements to the line.
In addition to the senior England Championships, the race hosted a masters qualification opportunity with over 200 master's athletes registered to qualify to represent England in their age categories.
