England select team of eight to compete at the 2023 Copenhagen Marathon

England Athletics is delighted to announce the athletes selected to represent England at the 2023 Copenhagen Marathon. The race provides an opportunity for athletes to develop international experience at the marathon in a high-quality race and fast course.

Philippa Bowden (Aldershot, Farnham & District) ran 2:34:28 on debut at the 2022 Seville Marathon and represented GB in the European 10000m Cup in May whilst finishing 7th at the 2022 Leeds Abbey Dash. Hannah Alderson (Bristol & West), who represented Great Britain at the 2012 European Cross Country Championships, is selected after winning a silver medal at the England Marathon Championships in London in October running 2:35:58.

Anya Culling (Best Athletics) was a bronze medallist the England Marathon Championships in London in October running 2:36:21 and recently set a PB of 73:37 at the Barcelona Half in February. Dani Nimmock (City of Norwich AC) gains selection after a 4th placed finish at the England Marathon Championships running a PB of 2:38:18.

Alex Lawrence (Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets AC) broke 2:18 twice in 2022 including setting a PB of 2:17:41 at the Hamburg Marathon and setting a 5km PB at the recent Armagh International Road Race. Norman Shreeve (Cambridge & Coleridge) has a PB of 2:16:12 and is selected after running 2:18:12 at the Seville Marathon in February.

Matt Crehan (Allison Benton, St Helens Sutton) set a half marathon PB of 65:14 in Antrim in August and followed this up with a marathon PB of 2:18:09 at the California International Marathon in December. Will Strangeway (Lincoln Wellington) set PBs over 10km, half marathon and marathon in 2022 including 2:18:01 at Manchester in April.
