Podcast #24: Lucy-Jane Matthews on success despite the pandemic

Episode #24 of the England Athletics podcast: Despite all of the COVID-19 restrictions of 2020, plus several injuries, sprint hurdler Lucy-Jane Matthews had a fantastic breakthrough season, coming second at the British Athletics Championships aged just 17. Find out how she did it, and hear guidance from England Athletics CEO Chris Jones, who reflects on the last 10 months, shares thoughts and hopes for the coming year.

Lucy-Jane Matthews talks about her amazing run to a silver medal aged 17 at last year's British Athletics Championships.

"You've only got one race to go, you might as well throw everything including the kitchen sink at it. To even be in the same race as her was crazy. It was pretty much a given that Cindy (Ofili) was going to prevail...it was much closer than anyone anticipated!"

Plus, hear from our CEO Chris Jones in our latest podcast.

"The positivity and the can-do attitude from those volunteers in the sport who have used this difficult period to do something positive has been just fantastic. None of the competitions that have taken place would have done without that effort."
