Talented Athlete development opportunities

As part of the England Athletics Talent Pathway offering, the event groups of speed, throws, endurance, jumps and para specific events host dedicated training activities for athletes and their personal coaches throughout the year.
These will be predominantly held out of the four Talent Hubs of Leeds Beckett University, Loughborough University, the University of Birmingham and St Mary's University, Twickenham.

Hammer
Hammer Masterclass (Loughborough University): 1-2 November

Led by Olympic hammer thrower and world renowned coach, Paddy McGrath, this two day immersive masterclass is tailored for both athletes and coaches to sharpen their technical skills, enhance performance, and gain insights from one of the sport’s most respected coaching minds. Paddy will deliver sessions focused on technique, drills, coaching philosophy, and practical tips for long-term development. Supporting the weekend is the UKA Para Strength and Conditioning Lead, who will run specialist sessions designed to further support hammer throwers in building robust, high-performance training habits.

3 Day Junior2Senior – Train like an Elite Hammer Thrower camp (Radley School, Oxfordshire): 29 March to 1 April 2026

This unique opportunity to train full-time as a hammer thrower. After two years of proven success with distance runners, Junior2Senior is now launching its first-ever intensive training camp for aspiring elite throwers. The fully residential camp includes expert coaching from Jake Norris (World Junior champion, UK No.1) and Bayley Campbell (World Junior finalist), alongside a packed program of technical sessions, speed development, S&C, nutrition, psychology, and injury prevention.

New and existing coaches can sign up to learn more about Seated Throws (10am-5pm), and new and existing seated throwers can sign up for an afternoon (3-5pm) of coaching and training as a group.

Wheelchair Racing Talent Series (St Mary’s University): November 2025 – March 2026
England Athletics talent camps bringing together our selected England Talent Programme wheelchair racing athletes. Camps are delivered by National Wheelchair Racing Development Coach, Richard Chiassaro, and we are offering the chance for 5 coaches to work with Rich to learn more about wheelchair racing.

National Endurance weekend (Leeds Beckett University): 15 and 16 November

Aimed at athletes (18+) and their personal coaches to learn together. Athletes must have achieved the a Half Marathon time 66:00/75:00 or Marathon time of 2:20/2:38. Places are very limited, and all places are available on a first come, first served basis.
Places are available to:

- Athletes who have represented England or Great Britain over ultra distances, cross country, mountain or trail since 1 May 2024.

- Para athletes on England Athletics Talent Pathway or England Athletics Para Academy athletes.

- Race walking athletes.
