English Masters AA (EMAA)

EMAA is one of the four Regional Associations that make up the British Masters Athletics Federation (BMAF) collective along with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. EMAA promotes events for the benefit of its eight Area Clubs. Delegates from the Area Clubs form a Selection Committee for the England team at appropriate competitions.

Clubs pay a small levy to EMAA to cover expenses. Financial support and assistance is also received from England Athletics.

EMAA AGM 2026

The Annual General Meeting of the England Masters Athletics Association will be held online on Wednesday 15 April 2026 at 7pm via Zoom. Each of the England Masters Clubs can nominate two representatives to vote at the AGM and all members of England Masters Clubs are welcome to attend.

Agenda

The AGM will include an overview by Chris Jones, the CEO of England athletics on how England Athletics and EMAA can work together more closely to support masters’ athletics. It also includes a proposal to adopt a revised Constitution, which updates the current Constitution dated February 2017 to address and clarify various issues.

Please see the attached explanatory note which provides details on the proposed changes.  If you have any comments or queries regard these proposed changes prior to the AGM, please could you email me, Sue Cordingley (suebecconsall@btinternet.com).

Committee

There are a number of vacancies on the Committee (officer appointments are on an initial one-year basis).  The Committee consists of:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Endurance Secretary (includes Cross Country and Road Running)
  • Track & Field Secretary
  • England Team Manager (s)
  • Member Engagement/Social Media Officer
  • Website Manager

A number of individuals have already offered to put themselves forward for consideration for officer roles for the forthcoming year. These include:

  • Steve Watmough: Chair
  • Sue Cordingley: Secretary or Vice Chair
  • John Borgars: Treasurer
  • Carey Hollick: Track & Field Secretary
  • Roland Gibbard: Endurance Team Manager
  • Maurice Hemingway: Website Manager

Whilst there is an existing and willing team, we do need more support if we are to really develop the potential for England Masters events and representative opportunities, and also to work with England Athletics to promote master’s competition. One absolutely critical role which needs filling is that of Member Engagement/Social Media officer. This would help us to build a much stronger way to engage as a community throughout the year. If you are interested and willing to get involved via this or any other role then please inform your masters area club secretary at least 48 hours in advance of the AGM, and they will be able to endorse your interest and support it at the AGM.  Any current member of an England Masters Club is eligible to apply for join the Committee.
