Welfare Officers - join us for a Connected Conversation this May

Following on from our successful Regional Welfare Officer Forums in November, we have listened to your feedback and know just how much you valued connecting with each other. Based on this, we plan on bringing you quarterly Connected Conversations.

These will be a series of regional online sessions, specifically for Welfare Officers; to network, share and learn from each other. Some of them will be based around a theme and others might have a more regional approach.

This quarter we are going to focus on Safe and Positive Online Communications. Whilst a social media presence and use of online communication apps are excellent tools for supporting club activity, there can be risks associated with these which can lead to negative experiences for members and pressure put on volunteers to manage a dispute or incident.

Equally, for Clubs who have members under 18, it is vital to ensure that their online access is safe with appropriate content and risks managed relating to personal data, exposure to adverts and ensuring there is no one-to-one communication.

Our first series of Connected Conversations will give you time to talk through the considerations that should be taken when using social media and online communication tools, the challenges you may face and share best practice when managing these issues.

There are some great resources out there to support this area. We would recommend taking a look at the links below prior to attending as these will form the basis of our conversations.
