Welfare Officer connections grow as Connected Conversations continue this November
It has now been a year since we began bringing Welfare Officers together with the aim of creating a supportive environment when people in this vital role from across the country can network, share and learn from each other.
Through providing quarterly Connected Conversations sessions, we have provided a dedicated space and time that solely focuses on supporting people in that role.
Numbers have grown and during August, we engaged with over 100 Welfare Officers from more than 80 clubs.
Whilst each session provides a focus area based on an article or resource to discuss and reflect on, the main focus is networking and learning from each other.
Abi Gabel, from Kingston upon Hull AC, said of the sessions:
"The Connected Conversations forum has been a really useful opportunity to hear what other Welfare Officers are doing, to share ideas, share challenges and support each other. The series has also given us ideas to take back to the club on topics like online safety, and how we can best support and value our volunteers. The sessions gave us the impetus to explore some broader welfare/wellbeing events at the club."
The next series of Connected Conversations will take place across November and will focus on safer practices within clubs - the article below will provide the basis of the conversations.
