Team England is pleased to announce their athletics Team Captains for the 2023 Trinbago Commonwealth Youth Games. Congratulations to Thea Brown (Joanne Harding, Sale Harriers Manchester) and Teddy Wilson (Tamunonengiye-Ofori Ossai, Be Fit Today Track Academy).
Teddy will be one of the first athletes to fly the flag for England as he races Monday on the opening day of the competition in the 100m. Thea will be competing in the 100m hurdles and the high jump, with both athletes also selected as part of the 4x100m relay squad.
Speaking on her selection as Girls's Team Captain, Thea said:
"It is an amazing opportunity to lead this fantastic group of people that I met only a couple of days ago but who have become really close friends. It's nice to know that Teddy and I can work together, it's going to be a great experience and I am really happy."
On his selection as Boy's Team Captain, Teddy added:
"It feels great, I always wanted to be Team Captain. It makes me feel really good that my team voted me in, it is a lot of responsibility but I really appreciate it."
