Strong team of throwers selected for Pickering Memorial International
Following the success of previous England teams at the increasingly popular Pickering Memorial International, we are sending a strong team of 23 athletes. The competition features athletes from Scotland, Wales and Switzerland, as well as a Loughborough team - and will provide an excellent high-level competitive opportunity for some of our most promising young throwers.
The England team features athletes aiming for selection to the Under-18 European Championships and Under-20 World Championships later this summer, and we are delighted to be taking such a team to what promises to be an exciting competition.

The Pickering Memorial International continues to celebrate the huge contribution that Shaun Pickering and his family have made to the throws community and to athletics more widely. Providing international competition opportunities like this is an important part of developing our pathway athletes, with the experiences, knowledge, and skills gained from representing England helping to prepare them for future age-group and senior championship events.
Team Leader Katie Lambert said:
"Congratulations to all of the selected throwers, together with their personal coaches and support teams. Selection for this team was extremely competitive, reflecting the strength and depth currently within the England throws pathway. Due to some flexibility within the timetable, we were able to increase our initial 16 spaces to 23 athletes. We also congratulate both Alani Dumbuya and Tom Rutter as Team Captains."
"Finally, it takes a lot of people to facilitate an event like this, so I’d like to thank the team coaches, our team managers Nicola Evans and Melissa Lock, and physio Samuel Harry for all their hard work behind the scenes."
