Podcast #72: George Mills and Georgia Hunter Bell among athletes delighted with UK Indoors
In the latest England Athletics podcast, George Mills and Georgia Hunter Bell are among the athletes to give their reaction to title-winning performances at the UK Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
The duo have booked their places at the upcoming European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands on 6-9 March.
Other great stories include 17-year-old Otis Poole winning the men's high jump with a huge personal best clearance of 2.20m, significantly bettering the 2.09m he set to win the England under-20 title in Sheffield earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Scott Lincoln won his 19th UK shot put title to break clear of Colin Jackson and Linford Christie as the British man with the most gold medals at senior UK Athletics Championships, across indoors and outdoors. George Mills, who won European 5000m silver last summer, said:
"(In) sport, and especially in this sport, you have to make sure you turn up at every event and be ready to fight and compete."
Georgia Hunter Bell summed up an incredible last nine months, the high-point of which was her fantastic Olympic 1500m bronze medal in Paris.
"It's been a whirlwind. I'm definitely grateful for the situation I am in. This time last year, I was juggling a full-time job. Now I have a lot more time on my hands and I can just focus on running."
Athletics commentator Scott Eburne gives his review of the event, while British champions Alex Haydock-Wilson, Serena Vincent, Georgie Forde-Wells and Justin Davies also feature.
The episode can be listened to in full on Spotify, as well as Soundcloud and Apple Podcasts.
