Mini Marathon Trials

The West Midlands and East Midlands regions hold trials for their London Mini Marathon teams. The London Mini Marathon which takes place on Sunday 28 April 2019. (Note: other regions select based on Cross Country and other competition results). The races will be open to all West Midlands or East Midlands qualified athletes rspectively under UKA Rules.  Each race is 3 miles.

  • Under 13 Girls and Boys
    Must be over 11 years of age on 28 April 2019 and born between 1 September 2005 and 22 April 2008
  • Under 15 Girls and Boys
    Born between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2005
  • Under 17 Women and Men
    Must be under 18 on 28 April 2019 and born between 1 September 2001 and 31 August 2003.

West Midlands

The West Midlands Region trials will take place on 16 February, at the Stourport Cycleway, Kingsway, Stourport, Worcestershire, DY13 8BQ.


  • 1.30pm: U13 Girls and Boys
  • 2pm: U15 Girls and Boys
  • 2.30pm: U17 Women and Men


The first five finishers in each race will be automatically selected to compete for the West Midlands with the next four as non-travelling reserves. There will be one place in each team left for Team Management selection. That athlete will be advised nearer to the date of the London Mini Marathon itself. Athletes must inform the Team Manager in person or by email if they wish to be considered for this discretionary sixth place.

East Midlands

The East Midlands will trials take place on 31 March at Leicester County Hall, Glanfield Road, Leicester LE3 8RA.


  • 11am: U13 Boys
  • 11.20am: U13 girls
  • 11.40am: U15 Boys
  • 12.10pm: U15 Girls
  • 12.30pm: U17 Men
  • 12.50pm: U17 Women


The first six finishers plus two non-travelling reserves will be selected to compete for the East Midlands in each age group team.

Entry for the East Midlands trials is online only at and costs £6. The trials are promoted by the Leicestershire Running and Athletics Network on behalf of England Athletics East Midlands Regional Council.
